Earlier this year, the video game publisher, Bethesda Softworks, announced an upcoming Indiana Jones game. It is being developed by MachineGames, which is best known for the Wolfenstein video game series, in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games.

A new Indiana Jones game with an original story is in development from our studio, @MachineGames, and will be executive produced by Todd Howard, in collaboration with @LucasfilmGames. It’ll be some time before we have more to reveal, but we’re very excited to share today’s news!

Since the initial announcement, limited information has been available about the game. Although since Bethesda is owned by Microsoft, the title might be an Xbox and PC exclusive.

On May 15, 2021, Timur222 (@bogorad222) shared on Twitter that the game began production in March of this year. The source of this information was from the MachineGames lighting artist’s LinkedIn page. The Tweet is shown below.

Based on the lighting artists’ previous game development schedules, Screen Rant estimated that each game produced by MachineGames takes about “a year to a year-and-half of production time.” Therefore, they predict that the game’s lighting will be completed by mid-2022 and with a release frame of “late 2022 or early 2023.” This would tie in with the release of Indiana Jones 5 which, is set for July 29th, 2022. However, the game will not be an adaptation of the upcoming movie. Instead, the game will feature an all-new and original story.
