It’s an exciting time to be a Sonic fan. Whether it’s games or Hollywood blockbusters, it seems that things are starting to get back on track for fans of the iconic hedgehog.

Earlier this year, long-time Sonic voice actor Roger Craig Smith announced his retirement. However, just earlier this week, Smith announced his return to voice the blue speedster for upcoming gaming projects.

During the Sonic Central 30th Anniversary Livestream, Sega announced three new Sonic games coming both this year and next.

Team Sonic’s next 3D adventure for the Blue Hedgehog was the most important of the three games announced. Although no title was revealed, the brief teaser did reveal a tentative release date of 2022 and that it will be the first Sonic game to be released on next-generation platforms.

Additionally, a collection of iconic Sonic games, including Sonic the HedgehogSonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD, will also be released next year.

Sonic Colors: Ultimate, a remaster of the 2010 game Sonic Colors, was also announced. On September 7, the repackaged Wii game will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
